Delete Mac apps completely.

When you drag a macOS app to Trash, it leaves behind preferences, caches, containers, and logs in ~/Library. Crufti finds those leftover files and lets you remove them. Still have the app installed? Crufti can move the app itself to the Trash in the same pass, so you delete it completely in one step. The Space tab shows what's using space in your Home folder or on your whole startup disk, as a list or a map, and helps you clear what you don't need from your Home folder. AI Review gives you a second opinion on anything you're unsure about.

Crufti is free to download from the Mac App Store. Scanning apps for leftovers, finding orphans, measuring your disk, Ask Space, What Is This?, AI Review, History and Undo are all free. Moving things to the Trash needs a one-time $9.99 in-app purchase. It isn't a subscription. You pay once and keep it. If you bought Crufti before it became free, everything stays unlocked and you don't need to do anything. Updates come through the App Store.

Yes. Crufti rates every match by confidence, ignores generic names, requires at least five characters to match, and flags folders that hold your own documents. Files go to the Trash, not into permanent deletion, and a record is saved before each cleanup.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The Apple Intelligence features need a Mac with Apple silicon: Ask Space and What Is This? need macOS 26 or later, and Apple Intelligence ratings in AI Review need macOS 27 or later.

Crufti is sandboxed by the Mac App Store, so it can't read your files until you allow it. The first time you scan, it asks once — through the standard macOS file picker — for permission to read your ~/Library folder. That access is the whole reason it can find leftovers, and it is used for nothing else. Scanning happens entirely on your Mac.

A simple view of what’s using space in your Home folder or on your whole startup disk. It lists folders biggest first, colors each one by what it holds (your files, app data, caches, leftovers from deleted apps, rebuildable files, apps, or macOS), and suggests things worth a look, such as installers you downloaded months ago or rebuildable developer files like Xcode DerivedData. Tick what you don’t need and Crufti moves it to the Trash, with one-click Undo. Installed apps’ data and the folders macOS needs stay locked. Switch from List to Map to see each folder as a block sized by the space it uses.

Yes. Pick Whole Disk at the top of the Space tab. The first time, click Allow Access and then Grant Access in the standard macOS file picker, which opens on your startup disk. Measuring the whole disk takes minutes, so it runs only when you click Measure Whole Disk or Rescan. Outside your Home folder Crufti only measures, and nothing there can be ticked or removed. Apps in Applications are the exception: choosing one opens it in the Cleaner, which removes the app together with its leftovers.

Both help you make sense of the Space tab. With Ask Space you type a question in plain words, like “caches over 1 GB not changed in 6 months”, and Crufti fills in the filters and shows what matches. What Is This? tells you what an item is when you right-click or hover it. Both run on-device, so they need a Mac with Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later and Apple Intelligence turned on. Ask Space works in English. Without Apple Intelligence, Find Items opens the same filters for you to set yourself.

Measuring space means looking beyond ~/Library, and the Mac App Store sandbox needs your permission first. Nothing happens until you click Allow Access to Home Folder; then the standard macOS file picker opens on your Home folder and you click Grant Access. Crufti uses that access only to measure what’s using space and to move the items you choose to the Trash. Measuring happens entirely on your Mac.

Yes. In the Space tab, tick the items you’re unsure about and choose AI Review. There are two options. Copy a Prompt writes a description of each item (size, kind of data, what's inside folders) that you paste into the AI assistant you already use. It explains each item and asks before removing anything. On macOS 27 or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon, you can also press Ask Apple Intelligence, which rates each item Safe, Careful or Keep with a short note on what it is and what removing it would mean. That runs on Apple's Private Cloud Compute, only when you press the button and after a one-time notice. Crufti's own safety rules can make a rating more careful, never less. Apple says it doesn't keep the data, Crufti has no servers, and nothing is removed until you tick it and confirm.

Yes. Files move to the Trash, so you can restore them. Crufti also saves a record of what was removed and when, and History lets you undo from there.

It checks ~/Library for leftover files that don't belong to any currently installed app. Useful if you've been deleting apps without cleaning up for a while. It recognizes leftovers both by their bundle identifier and, for well-known apps, by the app's own name.

Yes. If the app is still installed, Crufti can move the app to the Trash along with its leftover files in a single pass — after a confirmation that shows the app's name and size, and with one-click Undo. You can also Control-click any app in Finder and choose “Uninstall with Crufti” to start the scan. The app only ever goes to the Trash, never permanent deletion, so you can always put it back.

No. Crufti has no servers, analytics, tracking or account. Only two things ever leave your Mac, and both go to Apple. If you press Ask Apple Intelligence in Space, the items you ticked are sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute to be rated, and Apple says it doesn't keep them. The App Store also handles its own purchase and unlock checks, which tell Crufti whether moving things to the Trash is unlocked. You can check all this with Little Snitch or LuLu.
